Demographics

Demographics are characteristics and statistical information that distinguish a group of people, these characteristics commonly include age, gender, ethnicity, occupation, interests and other things.
A business’ target demographic captures the group of people at which their products or services are aimed and in my case my music magazine will be aimed at people who listen to the Metal music genre therefor everything inside of the magazine will relate to them in some way, shape or form.

It is important to understand the Demographics of a magazine that will be for the 'Metal Genre' because the decisions and choices that I make when putting together and creating my magazine could in turn affect the consumption of the magazine, this is because if there are things in there such as other genres that dont relate to my target audience this could put them off the magazine because they arent buying it for that genre theyre buying it for the Metal genre and if its full of things not related to that music it may be classed as false advertisement.

For my Magazine I will be targeting both C2 skilled working class and C1 lower working class becuase I want my magazine to be available for anyone who wishes to purchase it. Although the magazine isnt priced really expensively, it will still deliver the same amount of quality as one of the high end magazines such as Rocksound becuase this will attract people to buy the product and word will spread of the quality and cheapness of the magazine which will in turn boost profits and hopefully my magazine will reach some of the more up market magazines.
It will be sold in all good supermarkets and food retail shops such as ASDA, Sainsburys, Tesco and Waitrose as well as smaller more local newsagents throughout the United Kingdom, also because of its price I will make it a weekly magazine with up to 70 pages in each issue much like other leading magazines such as Kerrang! this is so that I wont go over budget in making it and my product will hopefully be up there in the top 5 music magazines such as Kerrang!.
